About Catherine

I've always believed the best way to understand a place is through what's on the table. A meal tells you more about a city than any landmark: who's cooking, what's in season, what people are proud of.

That's the lens I bring to every trip I plan. My focus is Mexico, France, Spain, New York, and California; places I know not just as a traveler, but as someone who's done the work of finding the meal worth planning a day around, and the wine worth a detour.

I'm not a generalist. I don't plan every kind of trip, everywhere. I plan food-and-wine-forward trips to the places I actually know, which means when I make a recommendation, it's not a guess pulled from a review site. It's something I'd tell a close friend.

Before every recommendation makes it into a client's itinerary, I ask the same questions: Who's cooking there right now? Is the "seasonal menu" actually seasonal? Would I send someone I love here? If the answer isn't a clear yes, it doesn't make the cut.

I started Travel Advisor Cat because I wanted to build trips the way I'd want mine built: considered, personal, and a little obsessive about getting the food right. If that sounds like the kind of trip you're after, I'd love to help you plan it.
